SPSU Alumni Board
The Southern Polytechnic State University Alumni Association is governed by a 19-member board of directors. Five officers and 14 board members serve the initiatives of the University and represent the perspectives of a diverse alumni community.
Frank Ziller began his term as president of the SPSU Alumni Association in July 2015 and has been a member of the board since 2011. He earned his B.S. in computer science from SPSU in 2007. Ziller has held several engineering and leadership positions over a 19-year career working in information technology and systems engineering. After spending time at Ricoh Americas Corporation and at Elavon Inc., he now serves as chief information officer at Intelliteach. Email Frank
Robert Graham is serving his second term as vice president for the SPSU Alumni Association and has been a part of the board since 2010. He received a B.S. in civil engineering technology at SPSU in 2005 and went on to earn an M.S. in civil engineering/transportation from Clemson University in 2007. Graham, certified as a professional engineer in Georgia, has worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation since January 2008 and presently serves as a senior design engineer in the Office of Design Policy and Support. Bridget Cantrell serves as the treasurer of the SPSU Alumni Association after joining the board in
2014. In 2003, she earned a B.S. in construction management at SPSU. Cantrell worked
in operations for 12 years, in positions ranging from a project engineer to a senior
project manager, before moving into the sales industry. She currently holds an environmental
position with RaceTrac Petroleum Inc. in Atlanta, which operates more than 600 company-owned
and third-party contract operated stores in 12 southern states. Email Bridget
Greg Barner is the secretary for the SPSU Alumni Association and has been a member of the board since 2012. In 1973, he obtained his B.S. in industrial engineering technology from SPSU. Barner currently owns and operates The Bubbling Creek Company Inc., a promotional products company in Atlanta, after working for 17 years in the electrical industry doing product application engineering, manufacturing engineering and new product development, specializing in the use of new materials and assembly methods to improve costs. Tyler Isgett is the immediate past president of the SPSU Alumni Association who joined the board in 2011. He acquired a B.S. in construction management at SPSU in 2009 while minoring in business administration. In his final year as a student at the university, Isgett served as an intern at New South Construction, a commercial general contractor in Atlanta, and has been with the company since 2008. He has steadily moved up in the organization and is now a preconstruction manager, a position he has had since August 2013. Email Tyler
Trent Anderson is in his second term as a board member for the SPSU Alumni Association after becoming a part of the group in 2013. He received his B.S. in construction management with a minor in business administration from SPSU in 2012. After graduation, Anderson began working for Brasfield & Gorrie LLC, one of the largest privately held construction firms in the country. In March 2015, he became the director of operations at Southeast Restoration Group in Canton, Georgia, where he served as a seasonal intern from 2008-11. Email Trent
Thomas Baglivo is in his second term as an SPSU Alumni Association board member after joining the group in 2012. He earned a B.S. in construction engineering at SPSU in 2009. For more than 10 years, Baglivo has worked for Geo-Hydro Engineers Inc., a company that provides environmental consulting services, geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing and special inspection. After serving as a co-op/intern while attending SPSU, he was promoted to a full-time project manager in May 2009. Email Thomas
Lisa Buice joined the SPSU Alumni Association board in 2012 and is a 2005 graduate of SPSU with a B.S. in apparel/textile engineering technology. Since the beginning of 2006, Buice has worked for Shaw Industries Group Inc., the largest carpet manufacturer in the world with more than $4 billion in annual sales and approximately 22,300 associates worldwide. She currently holds the position of human resources director for residential manufacturing. Email Lisa
Dustin Grau joined the SPSU Alumni Association board in 2014. He received a B.S. in computer science at SPSU in 2002 and was a resident assistant while on campus. Since June 1996, Grau has worked for BravePoint Inc. in Norcross, Georgia, under the title of principal solutions consultant, where he is a web application developer for various clients. An avid photographer, he also formed Dustin Grau Photography in 2010 with his specialty being concert/event photography. Email Dustin
David Jett became an SPSU Alumni Association board member in 2013 and is in his second term. In 2010, he received his B.S. in construction management, along with a minor in business administration from SPSU, where he was a part of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and served as a resident assistant. Jett joined the Parsons Corporation as an estimator and a software application manager in August 2012 and three years later was named a senior estimator working with project controls implementation. Tanjalon (Solomon) Lewis joined the SPSU Alumni Association board in 2014. She acquired her M.S. in information technology at SPSU in 2002 after earning a B.A. in mathematics/economics from Agnes Scott College in 1995. Lewis has worked for a number of large companies as an IT business analyst and project manager. In 2015, she was hired as an IT business consultant with Turner Broadcasting System Inc. after working with the WestRock Company in Norcross, Georgia. Email Tanjalon
David McKoy is in his second term with the SPSU Alumni Association board after joining in 2012. He earned his M.S. in quality assurance at SPSU in 2005 after 22 years of active service in the U.S. Marine Corps. In the past, he held an administrative position and was an adjunct instructor at SPSU. His daughter, Tiane McKoy, graduated from the university in 2012, the same year she was chosen as Miss SPSU. Currently, Master Sgt. McKoy is a naval science instructor in Allatoona High School’s Naval Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (NJROTC) program. Email David
R. Gene Morris became a part of the SPSU Alumni Association board in 2012 and is serving his second term. He attended SPSU from 1963-65 and worked for Lockheed-Georgia Company in Marietta for six years. Morris started a precision metal fabrication company, Morris Manufacturing, and was a reserve deputy with the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office for 19 years. After 31 years in the manufacturing business, he sold his company and worked full time with the sheriff’s office, retiring in 2005. Email Gene
Chisom Ohiagu became a member of the SPSU Alumni Association board in 2013 and is in her second term. She obtained two degrees from SPSU, a B.S. in computer engineering technology in 2005 and her M.S. in software engineering four years later. Ohiagu was active in many organizations while on campus, including the SPSU Ambassadors and dance team while also serving as the chair of the National Society of Black Engineers (SPSU chapter). She has worked as a software developer since October 2010 at RIB U.S. Cost. Email Chisom
Aakash Shah is in his second term with the SPSU Alumni Association board after joining in 2013. He earned his B.S. in industrial engineering technology at SPSU in 2006 and a MBA from KSU in 2009. As a student at SPSU, Shah was very active and worked for three years in the university’s advancement office. He previously held the position of senior vice president, global fraud customer experience lead at Citi. He currently serves as senior manager of sellers experience at Amazon.com. Email Aakash
Ben Phillips is an emeritus board member of the SPSU Alumni Association. In 1966, he received his A.S. in electrical engineering technology from SPSU. Phillips is retired but active in volunteering for the Marietta Civitan Club, Cartersville-Bartow Civitan Club and as a part of the adult choir at Roswell Street Baptist Church. He worked for many years with applications and design, and was a private systems design consultant for engineering firms. Phillips’ wife, Mary, retired from SPSU in 2012 after serving as the executive assistant to the president.
Ray Pinkerton is an emeritus member of the SPSU Alumni Association board. He acquired his A.S. in electrical engineering technology at SPSU in 1961 before moving on to earn a B.B.A. (actuarial science, 1970) and an M.S. (business management, 1990), both from Georgia State University. Pinkerton spent nearly 32 years with the Federal Aviation Administration, starting out as an electronics technician before retiring as the manager of the Southern Region Airways Facilities Division. He presently works part time as a senior engineer at Robison Aviation Inc.
