Trustee Turk establishes GeoSurvey Endowed Scholarship
(June 8, 2017) Trenton D. Turk ’86, a trustee of the Kennesaw State University Foundation, has established the GeoSurvey Endowed Scholarship to support deserving KSU students majoring in surveying and mapping through the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology.
Turk, who earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering technology from Southern Polytechnic State University, currently serves as principal/chief executive officer for GeoSurvey Ltd., a team of professional land surveyors committed to providing quality, accurate and cost-effective land surveying and laser scanning services for its clients. Since 1996, Marietta-based GeoSurvey has provided quality land surveying services throughout the Southeastern United States and especially throughout metropolitan Atlanta.
“GeoSurvey is indebted to the land surveying program at KSU for providing us with highly qualified and skilled land surveying employees,” Turk said. “We are thankful for the support the program has provided to us for so many years and we desire to return the favor by financially supporting the students working so hard for their degrees.”
To be eligible for Turk’s new endowed scholarship, a Kennesaw State student must be full time, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in surveying and mapping, and have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0.
Before joining the KSU Foundation, Turk was chairman of the Polytechnic Foundation of KSU, and served on the board for nine years. Just recently, on the afternoon of May 9, he was a Kennesaw State commencement speaker.
Turk has been a member of the Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia since 1990 and is a past director of the Kiwanis Club of Marietta, a local service organization with a special outreach to children in the community, which he has belonged to since 2002. Additionally, Turk has been a board member of the Georgia Museum of Surveying and Mapping since 2008.
The endowment was established with a pledge of $30,000 to be paid to the KSU Foundation by January 2021.
